Meet The Eye Doctor At Dr. Brown Family Eye Care
Dr. Brown is a Conway native who graduated from both Conway High School as a National Merit Scholar and from UCA with a degree in both computer and general sciences while also serving as a Cavalry Scout and Tank Commander in Conway's Troop E, 151st Cavalry unit of the Arkansas Army National Guard. After completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as a computer systems manager before serving a term as a missionary in Vienna, Austria supporting work behind the Iron Curtain. Upon his return from the mission field, Dr. Brown attended and graduated Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Having been awarded an Army Health Professions Scholarship while at SCO, he was assigned as Division Optometrist for the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas after graduation. His next assignment took him to Fort Rucker, Alabama where his family choose to remain as their children grew up. Now a retired Army Colonel having served 35 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard, the U.S. Army, and the Army Reserves, Dr. Brown service saw him assigned to the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory, multiple Army hospitals and clinics, and as Commander of a Combat Stress / Mental Health unit, a Combat Support Hospital, and a Medical Training Brigade before his final assignment with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. His military education included graduating and then teaching at the Army Flight Surgeon Course and completion of the U.S. Air Force's Aeromedical "Top Eye" course along with completing a Master's in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas.Dr. Brown is a board certified Optometric Physician and is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Arkansas Optometric Association, the Association of Corporate Optometrists, the DAV, and the American Legion.
Dr. Brown and his wife, Donna, have five children and three grandchildren. He is a member of City Church in Conway. As the grandson of Paul Brown, founder and original coach of both the NFL's Cleveland Browns (named after his grandfather) and Cincinnati Bengals, Dr. Brown is an avid football fan pulling for his Bengals, Razorbacks, Bears, and Wampus Cats.
